Which Seat models have CarPlay as standard?

Seat started offering CarPlay under the commercial name Full Link, and it did so as a paid option and only on the newer generations. In practice:

• Factory radios without a touchscreen (Ibiza 6L and 6J, Leon 1 and Leon 2 MK2, Altea, Toledo, Exeo, Alhambra): no CarPlay and no way to enable it.
• Media System 2.2 and older factory navigation: a small screen with paid maps and no phone mirroring.
• Full Link (Leon MK3 and later models with MIB): CarPlay and Android Auto are there, but only if the option was ordered. Many cars of the same year do not have it, and enabling it needs coding and sometimes different hardware.

In other words: most Seat cars on the road today do not have CarPlay, and on those that could have it, it depends on how the car was specified back then.

The solution: a model-specific Android head unit for Seat

What is the installation like on a Seat?

It is a plug & play and reversible job: the car's original connectors are reused and no wire is cut.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the console trim with plastic pry tools. On VW Group Seats it usually clips out easily.
3. Pull the original radio out. On many models you need extraction keys, which are included with the unit.
4. Connect the model-specific harness and the CAN Bus decoder, which keeps the steering wheel controls, the warnings and the parking sensors.
5. Check whether your car has an amplified sound system or a factory reversing camera: those cases need the matching adapter.
6. Place the microphone next to the rear-view mirror and route the GPS aerial along the windscreen pillar.
7. Fit the screen into the frame, reconnect the battery and check sound, steering wheel controls and CarPlay.

With basic tools, most models take one to two hours.

How much does it cost to add CarPlay to a Seat?

The official route rarely exists. On Seats without a touchscreen the dealer cannot add CarPlay because the hardware does not support it; and on those with MIB but no Full Link, enabling it means coding and often replacing the whole unit with a higher-spec one, with the cost that entails.
