CarPlay Head Unit for Peugeot Expert 2, Citroën Jumpy and Fiat Scudo (2007-2017): how to install Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

CarPlay and Android Auto head unit for Peugeot Expert 2, Citroën Jumpy, Fiat Scudo and Toyota Proace (2007-2017)

If you deliver goods, carry tools or simply use your van as a rolling office, you already know you spend more hours in it than on your own sofa. And that's the catch: the Peugeot Expert 2 (G9), the Citroën Jumpy II, the Fiat Scudo II and the Toyota Proace I are excellent working vehicles, but their audio system belongs to another era. A monochrome display, a CD player nobody uses any more, Bluetooth that keeps dropping and, above all, no decent navigation. Every new address means the phone wedged into an air vent, a screen covered in fingerprints and the GPS coming out of the phone's own speaker.

The good news is that these four vans share a platform (they are the same vehicle with four different badges), so the fix is shared too: replace the original radio with a model-specific Android screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And there is no cable cutting or improvising involved: it is a plug & play swap you can do in an afternoon.

Does the Peugeot Expert 2 have CarPlay as standard?

No. No version built between 2007 and 2017 left the factory with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, simply because those systems did not exist when this generation was designed. Depending on trim and year, what you may have is:

  • Basic RD4 radio with a small monochrome display, CD and, at best, Bluetooth for calls.
  • RT6 / MyWay system on mid and high trims: hard-drive navigation that is now out of date and slow to use.
  • Fiat Scudo versions with the Blue&Me radio, handy in its day but limited to calls and USB music.
  • The Toyota Proace I, being a rebadged Expert, carries exactly the same limitations.

In short: even if your van has factory navigation, you will not be able to use Google Maps, Waze, Spotify or WhatsApp by voice on the vehicle screen. That requires changing the unit.

A model-specific 9-inch Android screen fills the original radio slot and turns the dashboard into something close to a brand-new van. This is what you gain:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: you get in, the phone connects on its own and your maps, music and messages appear.
  • Real navigation with Google Maps or Waze, live traffic and speed-camera alerts, plus downloadable maps for working without coverage.
  • Android with the Play Store: install your delivery company's app, Spotify, YouTube or the radio station you listen to every morning.
  • Proper hands-free with an external microphone, welcome when you spend the day calling customers.
  • Reversing camera input, practically essential in a panel van with no rear window.
  • Steering wheel controls and CAN bus kept: volume, track change and answering calls keep working as before.
  • DSP and two USB ports, so the sound is not lost under diesel engine noise.

Compatibility with Expert 2, Jumpy, Scudo and Proace: supported versions

The screen is built with the exact frame and harness of this platform, so it fits without gaps in:

  • Peugeot Expert II (G9), across the whole generation (2007-2016), including Combi, Van and Tepee versions.
  • Citroën Jumpy II (2007-2016), also sold as Dispatch in other markets, in Van and Multispace versions.
  • Fiat Scudo II (270) (2007-2016), both panel van and passenger variants.
  • Toyota Proace I (2013-2017), Toyota's version of this same van.

It replaces both the basic radio and the RT6/MyWay system of the mid trim. If you are not sure which unit you have, the quickest way is to send us a photo of your current radio on WhatsApp: we confirm compatibility free of charge in a few minutes.

It is a plug & play job designed to be done yourself. These are the steps:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching anything. One minute that saves you trouble.
  2. Remove the original radio by gently prying the trim with a plastic tool so you do not mark the dashboard.
  3. Unplug the factory connectors (power, speakers and aerial) and free the unit from the slot.
  4. Plug in the specific harness of the new screen. The connectors are the vehicle's own, so they only fit one way: no cutting or splicing.
  5. Connect the CAN bus module, the part that translates the van's signals so the steering wheel controls and vehicle information keep working.
  6. Route the reversing camera cable if you are fitting one, usually along the side trim to the tailgate or rear doors.
  7. Test before closing up: reconnect the battery, start the engine, check the sound, CarPlay and the steering wheel controls. If all is well, slot the screen in and tighten the screws.

Taken calmly, the installation takes 30 to 60 minutes. The screen comes with a fitting guide and, if you get stuck, you can write to us and we will walk you through it.

How much does it cost to add CarPlay to an Expert 2 or a Jumpy?

At a dealer or car audio installer the answer is usually discouraging: these vans have no official update that adds CarPlay, so the usual route is a generic aftermarket unit plus frame, harness and labour, with a quote that adds up quickly and a result that does not always keep the steering wheel controls.

Buying the model-specific screen changes the picture: you pay for a unit already prepared for your van, with the correct frame and connector included, and you save the labour if you fit it yourself. Does the same screen fit the Expert, the Jumpy, the Scudo and the Proace?
Yes. All four vans share a platform and radio slot, and the harness is the same. That is why a single part covers the four brands.

My van has the RT6 / MyWay navigation. Do I lose it?
You replace that navigation with a far more up-to-date one. You lose the factory maps (already outdated) and gain Google Maps and Waze with live traffic.

Can I keep the reversing camera I already had fitted?
Yes, the screen has a camera input and accepts the vehicle's original one. And if you had none, the free camera plugs into that same input.

Is it readable in daylight in a van with such a large windscreen?
Yes. It is a 9-inch HD touchscreen with good brightness, far more legible than the original monochrome radio.

Does it cause problems at the roadworthiness test?
No. As it is integrated into the original slot and does not modify any safety component, a model-specific screen needs no approval.
