What is the installation like?

It is a plug & play installation with the right adapter: there is no need to cut any of the car's wiring.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before you start.
2. Remove the original radio: on these Fords it slides out using the U-shaped keys that go into the slots on the sides of the front panel.
3. Take off the console trim if necessary, releasing the clips with a plastic tool.
4. Unplug the connectors for power, speakers and aerial from the original unit.
5. Connect the adapter harness of the new radio. If the car has steering wheel controls, connect the corresponding module too.
6. Check the permanent and switched live feeds: on some older cars they are swapped, which is why a radio switches off or loses its memory.
7. Fit the GPS aerial and the microphone, the latter near the mirror or the A-pillar.
8. Reconnect the battery and test sound, stations, Bluetooth, CarPlay and GPS before closing up the dashboard.

My original radio asks for a code. Does that matter?
No. The new unit does not need any Ford code. Keep the original radio and its code anyway, in case you ever want to refit it.

Can I fit a reversing camera?
