What is the installation like on a Chevrolet?

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the console trim with a plastic pry tool; on these models it is held by clips.
3. Undo the original radio's screws and pull it out with its connectors.
4. Connect the model-specific harness to the factory socket. The CAN bus module translates the car's signals so the steering wheel controls, parking sensors and camera keep working.
5. If you are fitting a reversing camera, run the video cable along the side to the tailgate or number plate.
6. Fit the new screen with its frame, screw it in, reconnect the battery and start the engine.
7. Pair your phone over Bluetooth the first time; after that CarPlay and Android Auto connect on their own.

How much does it cost to add CarPlay to a Chevrolet?

Officially, the door is practically closed: with the mainstream range no longer sold here, there is no infotainment upgrade available for these models. The workshop alternative - a universal double-DIN radio - is expensive because you have to add frame, aerial adapter and steering wheel adapter separately, and the result rarely looks integrated.

Can CarPlay be enabled on a Chevrolet without changing the radio?

No. On models that left the factory without CarPlay, the original radio lacks the required hardware and there is no software activation. On top of that, the brand no longer supports these systems in Europe.

My Chevrolet has MyLink, is that enough?
