What is the installation like?

It is a plug & play installation. The kit includes the specific harness and frame, so there is no splicing or cutting of cables. An installer takes between 30 and 60 minutes, and doing it yourself is perfectly feasible with the included guide.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. It's the first step and the one that prevents any electrical mishap.
2. Remove the original radio. On many Caddys it comes out using the U-shaped extraction keys that slide into the side slots; on trims with a touchscreen you first need to release the console trim with a plastic pry tool.
3. Unplug the rear connectors of the radio: power, speakers and aerial.
4. Connect the specific harness of the new screen and the CAN Bus module. That module translates the vehicle's signals and is what keeps the steering wheel controls and parking sensors alive.
5. Route the reversing camera cable if you are fitting it, along the side of the cabin to the number plate or tailgate area.
6. Fit the screen into its frame, check that it sits flush with the dashboard and tighten the screws.
7. Reconnect the battery, pair your phone over Bluetooth the first time and that's it: from then on CarPlay or Android Auto come up automatically.
