What is the installation like?

It's a plug & play installation: between 30 and 60 minutes, and you don't need to be an electrician. The steps are these:

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching anything.
2. Remove the original radio with the extraction keys (on the New Beetle these are the classic U-shaped rods of the Volkswagen system).
3. Unplug the quadlock connector and the aerial from the old radio.
4. Connect the new screen's specific VAG harness to the car's quadlock. This is the key step: that harness carries the CAN-Bus box which translates the car's signals and is what keeps the steering wheel controls and parking sensors alive.
5. Run the reversing camera cable to the tailgate if you're fitting it (we include it free with the radio).
6. Fit the screen into the specific fascia and seat it in the aperture.
