1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching anything.
2. Remove the console trim with a plastic pry tool; it is clipped in.
3. Undo the original radio's screws and pull it out with its connectors.
4. Connect the model-specific harness to the factory plug. The CAN bus is the key part: it translates the car's signals so steering wheel controls, parking sensors and camera keep working.
5. If you are adding a reversing camera, run the video cable along the side to the tailgate.
6. Fit the screen with its frame, screw it in, reconnect the battery and start the engine.
7. Pair your phone over Bluetooth the first time: after that CarPlay and Android Auto start on their own.

How much does it cost to add CarPlay to a SsangYong?

Through official channels the answer is usually no: on models that shipped without CarPlay the brand does not sell a system upgrade. Can CarPlay be enabled on a SsangYong without changing the radio?

No. If your car left the factory without CarPlay, the original head unit does not have the required hardware. There is no activation via diagnostics: the unit has to be replaced.
