What is the installation like?

It is plug & play: it connects to the car's original connector through the supplied harness, with no cutting or splicing. In other words, it is a completely reversible modification.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the centre console trim with plastic pry tools, never with metal screwdrivers.
3. Undo the screws of the original unit and gently pull it out of its opening.
4. Unplug the ISO connector, the aerial and, if present, the cable of the original navigation system.
5. Connect the supplied model-specific harness to the new screen and plug it into the Laguna's connector. The CAN-Bus module is what keeps the steering wheel controls, the parking sensors and the dashboard warnings alive.
6. For the reversing camera, run the video cable along the side of the cabin to the tailgate and connect it to the reverse light.
7. Slot the screen into its fascia, screw it in, reconnect the battery and pair your phone over Bluetooth and WiFi the first time to activate wireless CarPlay.

A car audio installer has it finished in 30-60 minutes.

There is no official option: Renault offers no update that adds CarPlay or Android Auto to the Laguna 3 or the Latitude, and the factory navigation no longer receives new maps.
