What is the installation like?

It is a plug & play installation: there is no need to cut original wiring or modify the dashboard. A patient DIY enthusiast will take a little over an hour; an installer, less.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before touching anything. It is the step most people skip and the one that prevents nasty surprises.
2. Remove the console trim. It is clipped in place: prise it off with a plastic trim tool from the edges, never with a screwdriver.
3. Take out the original radio. It usually comes out with extraction keys or by undoing four screws, depending on the version.
4. Connect the ISO harness and the CAN Bus module. Both come ready to use: the car's connector plugs straight into the screen's, with no splicing. The CAN Bus module is what keeps the steering wheel controls and the vehicle information working.
5. Plug in the radio antenna, GPS, microphone and USB. Run the microphone up to the A-pillar or the roof, next to the rear-view mirror.
6. Test before closing everything up: reconnect the battery, start the car and check sound, steering wheel controls, Bluetooth and CarPlay.
7. Fit the screen into the slot and put the trim back until every clip clicks into place.
