  • In the vans — Berlingo, Jumpy, Nemo and Jumper — the original radio is nearly always the most basic one.

It is a plug & play job, using the car's own connectors and without cutting wires:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting.
  2. Remove the console trim with a plastic tool, releasing the clips little by little.
  3. Pull out the original unit and unplug power, speakers, aerial and USB.
  4. Connect the model-specific harness of the screen to those same connectors.
  5. Plug in the CAN-BUS module to keep the steering wheel controls, the parking sensors and the on-screen warnings.
  6. Fit the external microphone next to the rear-view mirror and, if you are adding a camera, run its cable to the tailgate.
  7. Test everything before closing up: sound, wireless CarPlay, GPS, camera and steering wheel controls.

How much does it cost to add CarPlay to a Citroën?

Upgrading the original system at an official workshop rarely pays off on an older car: you have to cover the unit, the wiring, the coding and the labour, only to end up with cable-only CarPlay and paid maps.
