CarPlay Radio Screen for Chevrolet Orlando (2010-2018): how to install Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Chevrolet Orlando 2010-2018 - CarPlay and Android Auto Radio Screen

The Chevrolet Orlando was one of the most interesting options for large families in Spain: seven real seats, a huge boot with the third row folded and a price well below other MPVs of its size. Although Chevrolet stopped selling cars in Europe, many Orlandos are still on the road and their owners keep them because they do the job perfectly. What has aged is the multimedia system: a radio with no phone integration in a car designed for long trips with the whole family. A 9-inch radio screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto solves navigation, music and calls in one step.

Does the Chevrolet Orlando have CarPlay as standard?

No. The Orlando came onto the market before Apple CarPlay and Android Auto became widespread, and in Europe no version came with them from the factory. Most units have a CD radio with a small information display and, depending on the trim, Bluetooth for calls and a USB or auxiliary input. Some better-equipped versions had a touchscreen with navigation, but with maps that are no longer updated and no way to project your phone's apps. And since the brand no longer has an official network in Spain, there is no official update that adds CarPlay.

The solution: Android radio for Chevrolet Orlando

The radio screen for Chevrolet Orlando replaces the original unit with a 9-inch touchscreen and an adapter frame specific to its dashboard. These are its features:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, without plugging in your phone on every trip.
  • GPS navigation with its own antenna, compatible with Google Maps and Waze.
  • Bluetooth hands-free for calls and music.
  • FM radio and playback via USB, Bluetooth or compatible apps.
  • Wiring with CAN Bus to keep the steering wheel controls.
  • Two USB ports included to charge your phone or connect a USB stick.
  • Free universal rear-view camera, especially useful in a long car like the Orlando.
  • Three memory configurations: 1 GB + 16 GB, 2 GB + 32 GB or 4 GB + 64 GB.

Chevrolet Orlando compatibility: supported versions

The kit is compatible with the Chevrolet Orlando listed for the years 2010-2018, which was sold in Spain during the first half of that period. It works with petrol, diesel and LPG engines, and with five- or seven-seat versions, because compatibility depends on the centre console, not on the engine or trim.

  • Orlando with basic CD radio.
  • Orlando with factory Bluetooth and USB.
  • Units with an original screen, as long as the console shape matches the one in the photos.

The Orlando shares many parts with the Chevrolet Cruze, but the dashboard frame is not the same: if you have a Cruze, check the CarPlay screen guide for Chevrolet Cruze. Before buying, compare your console with the product images or send us a photo and we will confirm compatibility.

The kit includes the main wiring with CAN Bus and the adapter frame, so installation is plug & play:

  1. Remove the centre console trims and take out the original radio.
  2. Connect the main wiring to the Orlando's original connector, with the CAN Bus already integrated, without cutting cables.
  3. Connect the radio aerial, the GPS antenna, the two USB cables and the rear camera if it is going to be installed.
  4. Fix the screen to the adapter frame and fit it into the dashboard.
  5. Set up the CAN Bus in the radio menu and pair your phone to use CarPlay or Android Auto.

Fitting takes between one and two hours in a car electronics workshop, and a bit longer if the rear camera is also installed, because the cable has to be routed to the tailgate. The kit includes an instruction manual if you prefer to do it yourself.

How much does it cost to install CarPlay in a Chevrolet Orlando?

The dealership is not an option here: Chevrolet no longer sells cars in Spain and never offered CarPlay for the Orlando. A universal car audio radio with a generic frame usually means buying the steering wheel control adapter, the frame and the camera separately, and the finish on the Orlando's console is not as clean. The specific radio comes with the frame, CAN Bus wiring, GPS antenna, USB cables and rear camera in the same box. You can check the current price of each version on the product page.

Are the steering wheel controls kept?
Yes. The CAN Bus wiring lets you keep using the steering wheel controls for volume, tracks and calls.

Does it sound good in the third row?
The radio uses the car's original speakers, so the sound reaches every seat just as before, with the advantage of a much more complete equaliser to fine-tune it.

Can I still use Bluetooth if a passenger wants to play their music?
Yes. In addition to CarPlay and Android Auto, the radio works as a normal Bluetooth receiver for any phone.

Which rear camera comes free?
A universal camera without LEDs that is installed in the number plate area and connected to the radio's camera input.

Will I find parts and support even though Chevrolet is no longer in Spain?
The radio does not depend on the brand: technical support is provided by us, in Spanish, and the kit includes everything needed for fitting.
